Jessica Hicks is a seasoned trial attorney with extensive experience in both criminal defense and personal injury litigation. Born and raised in Central Florida, Jessica earned her undergraduate degree in Business Management from the University of Miami, where she was also a member of the Division I varsity tennis team. After graduation, she briefly played tennis professionally before pursuing her law degree. Jessica went on to earn her Juris Doctor from Stetson University College of Law in 2008.
Jessica began her legal career as an Assistant Public Defender for the 18th Judicial Circuit in Brevard County, where she spent more than a decade representing clients facing a wide range of criminal charges. During her tenure, she handled everything from simple misdemeanors to the most serious felonies, including manslaughter, first-degree murder, and capital death penalty cases. By the end of her service as a public defender, Jessica had tried nearly 100 jury trials to verdict throughout the state of Florida.
In 2022, Jessica transitioned her focus to personal injury law when she joined Andrew Pickett Law as a lead litigation attorney. There, she represented clients in complex civil matters, including catastrophic injury, premises liability, negligent security, wrongful death, and auto accident cases. Her background in high-stakes criminal trials provided her with invaluable courtroom experience that she now applies in civil litigation.
Dedicated to the legal profession, Jessica has been active in numerous professional associations. She previously served as Chair of the 18th Judicial Circuit Grievance Committee, was a member of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and participated in the Inns of Court. She currently serves on the Board of the Central Florida Trial Lawyers Association, and is also an active member of the Florida Justice Association and the Brevard County Bar Association.
